The County Government scholarship program receives a Ksh 12 million Boost

o ensure uninterrupted learning for students under the County Government scholarship program, Governor Andrew Mwadime-Wakujaa has engaged principals from institutions where the students are studying and thereafter issued them with cheques worth ksh 12 million to cater for school fees.
Speaking at the County headquarters in Mwatate, governor Wakujaa said he is keen on improving the county education standards at all levels.
“We are committed to improving the performance of students in our county by investing heavily in education and I am calling upon everyone’s contribution in this sector” said Governor Mwadime.
He applauded the principals in ensuring the students stay in school as the government worked in ensuring that funds are available.
CECM incharge of Education, Libraries and Vocational Training centres Gloria Monikombo appreciated the governor for making sure that all school fees are paid in time so as to see students learning is uninterrupted.
“I am certain that this year they’ll be better results from the previous years as our learners will be in school throughout,I know we’ll have positive results”,added Monikombo.
The principals led by the chief principal of Kenyatta High School Mwatate Mr David Macharia promised to support the county government and the sponsored students in ensuring good results.
“Investing in education is transforming a cohort of youths in the county thus there’s need to making sure that they stay in school and learn. We will give special attention to these students to ensure value for money” he said.
Taita Taveta County Director of Education representative Julius Fikirini appreciated the support the county government is giving to the very needy students.
“From today the issue of learning being interrupted by students being sent home due to school fees will be a thing of the past,the only thing remaining is for the scholarship students to study hard to better their future “he said.
Education, Libraries and Vocational Training centres CCO Lonyce Mwakio, acting fund board CEO Lawrence Mwakio,VTCS director Raphael Chola among other education officials were present.
